launch_kit #

launch_kit is a small Flutter CLI for generating Android and iOS app icons and native splash screens from one strict YAML config.

It wraps icons_launcher and flutter_native_splash, then adds a simpler Android/iOS-only config, flavor labels, debug indicators, and image normalization.

Installation #

Add the package as a dev dependency:

flutter pub add --dev launch_kit

For local development before publish:

Setup #

Create the default config and asset folder:

dart run launch_kit init

This creates:

launch_kit.yaml
assets/launch/icon.png
assets/launch/splash.png

The generated PNG files are bundled default launch assets with the correct dimensions, so the package can run immediately. Replace them with final design assets when ready. init does not overwrite existing PNG files.

Both images must be square transparent PNG files. The icon should be at least 900x900. The splash image should be at least 768x768.

For app icons, full-bleed artwork with opaque edges is kept full-bleed. Transparent logo-style artwork is centered on background_color.

The config is strict. Unknown fields fail validation.

launch_kit generates every configured variant as a flavor icon and also generates the default Android/iOS app icon used by plain flutter run. The default icon uses the productionRelease variant when present, otherwise the last configured variant.

launch_kit v1 only targets Android and iOS.

clean removes generated Android/iOS icon and splash outputs. It does not delete launch_kit.yaml or files under assets/launch/.
